AKRON, Ohio – Haven of Rest Ministries’ annual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners will have extra help this year, thanks to a new neighbor, FirstEnergy Solutions (FES).

FES, soon to be renamed Energy Harbor, will partner with Haven of Rest Ministries to provide dinner to an expected 800 Akron residents on Christmas Day.

The traditional Christmas meal is hosted each year by Haven of Rest Ministries, offering a special time of enjoyment and encouragement to families and individuals in need.

FES recently unveiled plans to move its headquarters to the former Akron Post Office building, directly across the street from Haven of Rest Ministries, during the first quarter of 2020.

“This generous gift to sponsor the cost of the meals we serve on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is a wonderful surprise and is greatly appreciated,” said Haven of Rest Ministries chief executive officer Rev. Jeff Kaiser.

“Haven of Rest Ministries plays a vital role in our community by helping to break the cycle of homelessness so that people can live brighter, hope-filled lives,” said FES chief executive officer John Judge. “We are proud to be a part of the critical service Haven of Rest Ministries provides for our community.”

FirstEnergy Solutions, soon to be renamed Energy Harbor, is committed to supporting downtown Akron and neighboring educational and civic organizations that provide for the well-being of the people of Akron.

Upon emergence from restructuring, Energy Harbor will be a privately held, financially secure, independent power producer and a fully integrated retail energy provider with a competitive suite of products for its growing customer base.

With its fleet of reliable generating resources capable of producing nearly 50 million megawatt hours of electricity, including substantial carbon-free power, Energy Harbor is well positioned for long-term value creation and competitiveness in a low-carbon future and to enable customers to meet their environmental, social and sustainability goals.
