Jason co-manages our wholesale, retail and proprietary trading activities. This involves monitoring Energy Harbor’s portfolio of generation and retail businesses and transacting in the commodities markets when opportunities present themselves. Additionally, he provides fundamental market analysis and strategic reporting of commodity data to hedge exposures, provide live pricing support to retail sales activity, and attend to international, domestic, or regulatory market developments.

“I’m proud of the work that we have done as a team to cover such significant ground across the commodities markets,” says Jason.  “Many shops have a much bigger headcount to manage the volume of information and the breadth of responsibilities that fall within our small group.”

Jason began his career in the energy sector in 2006 and has spent that time trading power, gas, emissions and derivatives on various commodities. He joined the Energy Harbor team to help with our trading activities in May of 2020. Working in this field for over 16 years, Jason recognizes that while overlooked for years, the carbon-free energy movement is just now starting to gain the necessary traction needed to mitigate the climate crisis.

“Extreme events have led to a forced reckoning of the impacts that we are having on the planet. Fortunately, eyes have been opened to the fact that nuclear energy is one of the most reliable and safest means to accomplish the challenging task of balancing the energy generation demands with the reliability, safety and environmental sustainability that is required.

Outside of work, Jason is very involved within the Houston community. He volunteers with numerous organizations as a coach and acts as a board member for different leagues across Houston. He has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; a Masters in Systems Engineering from UPenn; and a Masters in Financial Engineering from Columbia.
